Royal Wedding, BBC broadcast coverage, Westminster Abbey and Ceremonial London

Julian Bentley, Operations Director of MRL Safety Limited was contacted by BBC Events to assist with the health and safety management of the BBCs spectacular coverage of the recent Royal Wedding.

The production included the installation of over 100 cameras and 5 main broadcast hubs; these installations were positioned in Wellington Barracks, Canada Gate in Green Park, Horse Guards, Whitehall, Parliament Square, Westminster Abbey and other locations. In addition, the project included covering some remote outside broadcasts at Bucklebury and St Andrews and various BBC roving presenters in London and beyond.

Julian was involved in the planning build up to the event and MRL Safety deployed a team, working alongside BBC safety personnel, for the Wedding Day itself. The planning included liaising not only with the BBC and their suppliers but also the Met Police, Westminster Council and the Royal Parks, event organisers and a number of other agencies who all contributed to delivering one of the most spectacular days seen in the capital in recent years.

  • BBC and BBC supplier health & safety documentation gathering.
  • Event safety documentation production including risk assessment and staff contingency plans
