Emergency Extended Skills Course (2 days)

This course helps candidates to care for people with non-complex, non-immediate, life-threatening injuries and illnesses. Role play and practice are an essential part of this course

Content

 

  • Scene Assessment
  • Aseptic techniques and barrier use
  • Identifying injuries
  • Basic wound and injury management
  • Immobilisation of fractures, dislocations and strains
  • Conscious and unconscious casualty management
  • Basic CPR
  • Extensive coverage of the management of various injuries such as burns, shock, allergic reactions and fractures

Available additions to this course are:

  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training
  • Primary oxygen therapy and use

The certificate is valid for 3 years. MRL recommend that annual refresher training is undertaken to maintain skills and keep up to date with any changes to procedures.
