This course helps candidates to care for people with non-complex, non-immediate, life-threatening injuries and illnesses. Role play and practice are an essential part of this course
Content
- Scene Assessment
- Aseptic techniques and barrier use
- Identifying injuries
- Basic wound and injury management
- Immobilisation of fractures, dislocations and strains
- Conscious and unconscious casualty management
- Basic CPR
- Extensive coverage of the management of various injuries such as burns, shock, allergic reactions and fractures
Available additions to this course are:
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training
- Primary oxygen therapy and use
The certificate is valid for 3 years. MRL recommend that annual refresher training is undertaken to maintain skills and keep up to date with any changes to procedures.
