Live Nation Gigs Fight The Weather

Donington Park; the spiritual home of rock music once more played host to legendary Download Festival, one of the lucky festivals of 2007, Download got all the good weather, the bands and audiences appreciated it alike and an excellent weekend was had by all.

MRL managed the safety of the festival site working closely with Live Nation’s UK Production Director, John Probyn, providing once more event control, campsite safety, festival site safety and medical management, in addition to providing routine site safety management during the build and de-rig periods.

Information flowed freely between the production team and statutory agencies through strategically placed multi agency meetings across the three days.  Concerns were raised following a variety of incidents in 2006 but revised planning ensured the weekend passed without incident.  MRL’s staff then followed Live Nation and Angel Music to Global Gathering; then in the height of the summer’s rain. It’s a credit to all involved (and thanks to a last minute blast of sunshine) that the festival went ahead.  Headlining the weekend were Faithless, Basement Jaxx and Paul van Dyk; an excellent weekend was had by all, albeit a wet one.
