The Royal Parks commissioned MRL to oversee the safety and emergency planning for the high profile opening ceremony for the memorial fountain built in London's Hyde Park
Client: The Royal Parks

Following the death of Princess Diana in 1997, it was decided that a memorial should be built in her memory. Following submissions from numerous designers, it was decided that the final design would be built in Hyde Park, one of the Royal Parks in central London. The memorial was finally opened to the public in 2004.
Due to the high profile nature of the event, The Royal Parks commissioned MRL Limited as their safety and emergency planning advisers to oversee the opening ceremony. Working closely with the parks planning team including the parks manager Steve Edwards, risk assessments and contingency plans where developed to dovetail in with the Metropolitan Police, and other agencies plans for the official opening. The offical opening was carried out by the Queen and attended by many members of the Royal Family.
Further work was undertaken to develop mitigation measures and operational procedures to allow the public to have ongoing access to the memorial following the official opening ceremony.
