“We flew from Stansted to Munich where we picked up the audience” said Nigel Haley Project Manager at MRL Limited.  “When the plane reached cruising altitude, the band set up their kit and the backing singers got ready”.  As JK played to a specially invited audience, the plane continued to its destination in Athens. Once on the ground the plane was then pulled into a hanger and the show continued.  This unique event broke and set numerous world records.

It sounds like a simple concept, but in fact the Boeing 757 plane had to have a complete make-over to lend itself as a suitable venue for an event of this kind.  Not only were seats removed to make a performance area; but to create the atmosphere of being at a gig, independent power sources had to be brought in to accommodate additional lighting and PA all of which all had to comply with civil aviation legislation.

“This was a very unusual, but very interesting project” commented Nigel.  All the usual considerations for a gig had to be taken into account, but then double checked thoroughly to ensure the flight wouldn’t be affected in anyway.

The whole trip went without a hitch, confirming that it does really rock at 35,000 feet.
