After leaving the army Nigel joined the North Yorkshire Ambulance service and has attended various major incidents including the Dunkeswick Air crash and the Selby Rail crash. He completed a management qualification whilst working as a Station Officer and then later a NEBOSH certificate in Health and Safety. Nigel has been interested in sailing for many years, taking part in the Round the World Yacht Race and being part of the Combined Services Sailing Team.

Nigel now has responsibility for the safety of individual projects as one of MRL Limited’s Project Managers, and is a member of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management.
